What Is Give A Kid
A Chance?
Give A Kid A Chance is a community event focused on setting children up for success as they head back to school. Each year prior to the start of the new school year, GAKAC offers families the opportunity to receive backpacks and classroom essentials they need to thrive and excel — all free of charge — so students are prepared with the tools they need for a strong start in the new school year.
Mission and Purpose
The core mission of Give A Kid A Chance is to remove barriers to educational readiness for all children. Many families struggle to afford basic school supplies, and GAKAC exists to ensure every student — regardless of financial means — starts school confident, equipped, and excited to learn.
Community Involvement - Be the HEART of GAKAC
Your generosity and support make this event possible. For the past 19 years, local churches, businesses, and community organizations have filled a critical need in our community, positively impacting over 9,500 Rhea County children. For more information on how to become a GAKAC sponsor, click here.
The Bigger Impact
Beyond handing out supplies, Give A Kid A Chance includes:
- Focusing on the whole child to include health and wellness
- Community resource vendors with information on services and support
- A chance for community members to connect and support one another
- Local opportunities available to students and families
These elements help strengthen local ties and promote a spirit of care and empowerment for kids and families.
Empower our community. Join GAKAC as a strategic partner to support Rhea County families.
